Ellen+Brooks | Atlanta, GA Wedding
"I always thought I would have a hard time sleeping the night before my wedding. I ended up sleeping like a baby. My awesome maid of honor brought breakfast and juice to make sure I would eat at least one thing throughout the day. Everyone trickled in over the course of an hour. Tons of giggling, squealing, and general merriment. The glam squad showed up and, man, did they make us all look gorgeous! I thought everyone looked absolutely beautiful. Heck, I felt beautiful (which is a very rare thing)! I had my bridesmaids leave the room as I put my dress on so I could surprise them. Their reactions were priceless! Especially, my friend Christina’s reaction. These are the sweetest girls I know in the entire world."
"My dad held it together pretty well with our first look. I can only imagine how it feels to have your little girl get married. Seeing Brooks was up next. He was standing outside facing some trees when I hugged him from behind. He looked so dapper and handsome. I couldn’t (and still can’t) believe that he wanted to marry little old me! Seeing him made me even more at ease and excited about the rest of the day. Our group photos went by in what felt like no time and before I knew it, we were on the bus heading to the church!"
"Right before it was my turn to go down the aisle, my dad asked me if I was sure about this. I replied, 'Of course, dad. It’s Brooks' Even though I had seen him earlier, it was still a rush to see him up on the alter next to Fr. Jay. Jay gave such a good homily about how we will live out our vows in our daily lives. It started to hit me then that this was happening. I said my vows with a purpose. I wanted everyone to hear in my voice that I meant what I was saying, that I would take care of Brooks in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, etc. He’s my best friend in the entire world."
"The four hour reception felt like 20 minutes. Our first dance was a bit surreal to me. We had practiced dancing to this song in our kitchen and living room countless times, but now it was happening for real! We had such a great time dancing and talking with our friends; I wish we could have had another hour!"
"We drove off in our fancy car, but ended up catching a taxi and going through Checker’s to get some French fries. It was the best ending to the most amazing day of my life. And the fun part is that this chapter of our lives is just beginning. I wonder what our next adventure will be..."
